Special Math Lesson with Ms. Zimmer!
Grab your dry-erase boards, markers, erasers, and most importantly your attent-o-scopes. Ms. Zimmer is going to read you a special math story and you'll do some math work together.
New Math Game: Roll, Count, & Cover
For today's new game you will need a partner, 2 dice, and some small objects to cover the numbers on your game board. You can also grab your dry-erase board, marker, and eraser to write the equation that goes with your turn.

Phonics: Vowel Shields!
Today you will need your brand new vowel shields, your familiar books, and your attent-o-scopes! Together we will learn about vowels, the sounds they make, and where we can find them in our reading and writing.
New Math Game: The Penny Tosser
I hope you are ready and excited for a brand new math game! You will need to gather 10 pennies and a partner for this game. Remember your good sportsmanship!

Get out your alphabet chart, sentence strip dry-erase marker and eraser. We are going to use our best Kindergarten handwriting to write the -et words from our word sort. We will warm up with the alphabet song and alphabet aerobics.
Readers Workshop
Today you will re-read one of the books from your book bag. You will practice using your Book Talk Power with someone in your home. Try to retell the story from start to finish. Then share your favorite part. Try sharing how the book or a part of the book made you feel. You can also try making a connection from the book to your life! Have fun reading and using your Book Talk Power!
Math Word Problem
Today you will need your dry erase board as we work to solve today's word problem. As you listen to the problem, decide if we are going to use addition (adding) or subtraction (take away). Remember to think, show your thinking with a picture, write an equation, and write down your final answer.
Grab your dry-erase board, marker, and eraser. We will fill in the missing sound chunks, snap words, and sounds from our message
Kindergarten Handwriting (-en words)
Grab your sentence strips, dry erase marker, and eraser for today's handwriting practice. You will also need your alphabet chart so we can do alphabet aerobics and sing the alphabet song together.
Writing Workshop
Authors, today you will pick a prompt from your writing folder. First you will think about a story that you want to share. Then you will tell the story to yourself and to someone else. Last you will write the words and draw the pictures on your paper. I cannot wait to read your stories!

Handwriting Practice
Today we will use our sentence strips, dry-erase markers, erasers, and alphabet charts. We will warm up by singing the alphabet (touch each word as you say it in the song) and by doing a few rounds of alphabet aerobics. Remember to pay attention to the sun line, the airplane line, the grass line, and the worm line.

Ruslan and his brother Sammy had a blast doing their sink and float experiment outside.
Yaseen and his family found different items in the house to use in his experiment. Check out the videos below to watch Yaseen find out whether these objects will sink or float!
First he tried the experiment with tinfoil.
Then he tried the experiment with a tissue box.
Next he used a fork in his experiment.
Last, he used a recycled Pringles cup in his experiment.
Abhinav enjoyed using his dry-erase board this week. I like how he used lowercase letters for his sentence!

We will practice writing the numerals that we will use to fill in our calendar for April. You will practice using your dry-erase board and marker. Then you will use your very best kindergarten handwriting to write the missing numbers with a pencil on your calendar.

Today you will activate your Sound Power. We will use our eyes, brains, and ears to help us figure out the words on the page. Help Ms. Hall and Mabel read the story, "My Horse". Try using your superpowers to reread the books in your book bag!

You must be very excited about the 3 new math games that were sent home! We will learn how to play one of them today. It is a partner game, so remember to show good sportsmanship and shake hands at the end of your game!
Phonics: Word Sort (-ag & -at words)
Mabel is at Ms. Hall's house! Help us sort words by their ending sounds. You will help keep track by making tallies on your dry-erase board.
